Subject Description:
This 4 week class will cover all aspects of being a DJ and is perfect for anyone from the beginner
to the advanced. A course designed to teach both DJ theories as well as provide extensive hands
on training with mixing, scratching and juggling; it will provide the novice DJ the skills necessary to
begin a DJ career or provide the opportunity for the advanced DJ to learn new techniques.

- Scratching, juggling
- Putting together routines
- How to be an effective mobile DJ

Class Content Outline:
Class 1: Overview and history of Dj’ing, and Turntablism
Class 2: The art of Mobile Dj’ing, beat matching and blending
Class 3: Classic and contemporary scratches and combos, the art of “kuttin”
Class 4: Guest speaker on turntable repair, record care and troubleshooting
Class 5: Recording turntables to a computer. Designing battle routines, and preparing for a DJ battle
Class 6: Demonstration on pc Dj'ing and a presentation on scratching and mixing with CD’s
Class 7: Guest speaker on sampling turntables with VC’s and popular computer programs and
asdfadsf scratching in a band
Class 8: Final skills test. All student scratching session and solo demonstrations

Basis of Grading:
Attendance: 25%
Participation: 25%
Final skills exam : 50%
