DFP101: Introduction to Digital Film & Video Production - 264 hours

Subject Description:
This course combines lecture, demonstrations and hands-on lab time to provide the beginning student with a basic knowledge of digital film and video production procedures and techniques. The course will immediately immerse the students into the pre-production, production and post production processes of a single and multi-camera shoot.

Performance Objectives:
Describe basic camera operation and cinematography
Define visual narrative scripting and pre-production planning
Basic understanding of video and film processes and technology
Basic lighting, sound and art direction for digital film and video
Basic nonlinear video editing
Basic television graphics
Basic skills in producing, directing and camera operation in a multi-camera live switched environment

Week 3: Camera, Lenses, Dollies and Cranes
Week 4: Audio, Microphones, Sound mixers, Time-code, Sync Sound Recording
Week 5: Studio Production, Lighting and Sound
Week 6: Post Production, Avid Express, Final Cut Pro
Week 7: Location Production, Lighting and Sound
Week 8: Multi-camera Production Techniques
Week 9: Production and Post Production Graphics
Week 10: Mobile Truck Productions
Week 11: Complete Final Project
